How to Create the Illusion You're A Working Artist

Bring colored pencils and gouache to a residency....
It occurred to me while packing that I had better, if all else fails, at least superficially look like I have intentions to make a ton of work....

Iceland and Its Own Economic Crisis
Just in case you find yourself trying to wrap your head around the economic crisis in Iceland (which in many ways is much worse than ours) NPR does a pretty good job of shedding some light on the situation...

Don't Be Alarmed If I Seem a Bit Excited

It's official... now when you ask me, 'Are you done with those grad school applications yet?' I can say YES and I won't be lying to your face. This is the greatest sense of relief.. now I get to sit and wait for rejection! Awesome! Iceland 2010 count-down officially begins TODAY! 10 days to go....

Portfolio for the Slade

Proof of graduate applications..... Why just send a CD in a plastic case when you could compulsively spend 10 hours making a laser etched box with your name on it, a recycled cardboard CD holder with your contact info etched on it, and a non-mandatory artist's statement bound in a handmade vellum envelope?

Joshua In January

The time lapse since my last post is embarrassing I know.. I've been applying to graduate school... what more can I say? These photographs of Joshua were taken after a tremendous fight we had in which I made him cry simply because he would not initially let me take his photo. Nice right? What better way to get a 10 year-old to pose than to make him sob, way to go, Morgan. I already apologized, but sorry again, Joshie, our fight made for some nice photos no?
Some new work to follow in the days ahead created without the help of tears from a child. Just awful....
